- Cheapest Uber gift card right now: Costco sells two $50 Uber eGift cards for $79.99, 20% off, to members. It has been back since September 14, 2026, and Uber's announcement says it is "for a limited time."
- No Costco card? Kroger's gift card site has a $50 Uber card for $45 through October 13, 2026. The Uber app sometimes shows 15% off in Account → Send a gift, but only to some riders.
- Lyft cards are rarely cheaper. The best open deal we found today is 10% off for eligible DashPass members in DoorDash's gift card store.
- Uber cards pay for rides, Uber Eats and tips. Lyft cards pay for rides, bikes and scooters, but not tips.
- The trap: Uber Cash does not work on scheduled rides, rides booked on the website, or Family profiles.
- Timing matters. Of the 37 deals worth 20% or more in our log since 2023, 11 started in November, most of them between Thanksgiving and Cyber Monday. If you can wait, wait.
Uber and Lyft gift cards are easy presents. They fit in a holiday card, and nobody has to guess a size. But two cards with the same $100 on the front can be worth very different amounts. It depends on where you buy, when you buy, and what the person can actually spend it on.
We checked the rules on Uber's and Lyft's own pages, priced the cards at more than 20 stores on October 3, 2026, and logged 181 dated gift card deals from 2023 to today. We did not buy or redeem any cards. Here is what we found, in plain words.
Where to Buy Uber Gift Cards Cheaper (October 2026)
Most stores sell Uber gift cards at face value: you pay $50 for $50. Only a few sell them for less. This is what we found on October 3, 2026.
| Where | Price | The catch |
|---|---|---|
| Costco | $79.99 for $100 (two $50 eGift cards), 20% off | Members only. One order of up to two packs every 14 days. Back since Sept. 14, 2026. |
| Kroger gift card site | $45 for $50, 10% off | Oct. 1 to 13, 2026 only, up to $10 off per customer. Earns 2X fuel points. |
| Uber app: Account → Send a gift | Face value; sometimes 15% off | Only some riders see the offer. The last wave started Sept. 10, 2026: one card, up to $500. |
| gifts.uber.com | Face value, $20 to $500 | No fee. Email or text can go now or be scheduled up to 90 days ahead. You can also share it through a messaging app after you pay. |
| Target, Walmart, Amazon, Best Buy, Staples, Office Depot, Newegg, PayPal, giftcards.com | Face value | No discount today, but these stores run sales often (see our deal log below). |
| GiftYa | Face value plus a $1.95 to $6.95 fee | You pay more than the card is worth. |
| Card resale sites (Cardcenter, Raise and others) | Up to about 13% off | Used or unwanted cards from strangers. Read the warning in the scams section first. |
| Code sellers (Eneba, SEAGM and similar) | About 5% off (before checkout fees) to more than face value | SEAGM listed a $100 Uber card for $103.24. Skip these. |
Prices from each seller's page on October 3, 2026; resale discounts from CardBear's tracker the same day. Sam's Club listed only an Uber Eats-branded $50 card at $48.98, out of stock. We could not load BJ's, CVS or Dollar General pages, so they are not in the table.
How to send an Uber gift card by email or text
You can send one in a few minutes without a store. In the Uber or Uber Eats app, open Account and tap Send a gift. On a computer, go to gifts.uber.com and sign in to your Uber account.
- Pick an amount ($25 to $500, or type your own from $20) and a design.
- Add the person's name and their email or phone number. You can write a note of up to 1,000 characters.
- Send it now, or schedule it up to 90 days ahead, which is handy for a birthday or Christmas morning. You can also share it through a messaging app after you pay.
The person gets a link and adds the card to their own Uber account. If you buy a store card instead, give them the physical card and keep the receipt.
The Costco Uber gift card: is it still sold?
Yes, as of October 3, 2026. This is the deal many people look for, and it has come and gone this year. Costco sold two $50 Uber eGift cards for $79.99 through 2024 and 2025, and dropped the price to $74.99 (25% off) on several short sales, some lasting a single day. In late January 2026 it pulled the cards, briefly put them back, and they were gone again by mid-February. They returned on September 14, 2026 at $79.99 (Doctor of Credit), and Uber's own announcement says "for a limited time."
The cards work for both rides and Uber Eats. You need a Costco membership, and you can buy one order of up to two packs every 14 days.
Where to Buy Lyft Gift Cards
Lyft cards are easy to find and hard to find on sale. Lyft's help page lists these stores: 7-Eleven, Albertsons, CVS, Giant Eagle, Kroger, Safeway, Walgreens and Walmart. Online, Amazon, Target, Walmart, Best Buy, Staples, PayPal and giftcards.com all sell them at face value.
| Where | Price | The catch |
|---|---|---|
| DoorDash gift card store | 10% off | Eligible DashPass members only. Up to $25 off per purchase, four a month, through Dec. 31, 2026. |
| Lyft app | Face value; sometimes bonus value | Some riders get offers like spend $75, get a $25 bonus, around Mother's Day and the holidays. |
| lyft.com | Face value | The "send a gift card" button sends you to Amazon. |
| Amazon, Target, Walmart, Best Buy, Staples, PayPal, giftcards.com | Face value | Amazon has cut Lyft cards to $80 for $100 on past Black Fridays and Prime Days. |
| Costco | Not sold | The last Costco Lyft sale we found was in December 2023. |
Lyft's retailer list is from its gift card help page, which also still names Rite Aid. Rite Aid closed its stores in 2025, so we left it out.
One more Lyft option: the Lyft app lets you load Lyft Cash at the register in many stores with cash, with no fee and a $30 minimum. That is handy for someone without a bank card, but it is not a gift card you can wrap.
When Do Uber and Lyft Gift Cards Go on Sale? Our 181-Deal Log
Many "discounted Uber gift card" pages show only today's deals. We wanted to know when the deals come, so you can time your purchase. We logged every dated US deal on Uber and Lyft gift cards we could find from 2023 to October 2026, 181 in all, each with its source. We counted price cuts, bonus card value, and free store credit with the purchase. We left out credit card points deals, cashback apps and fuel points.
Deals by the month they started:
Dark bars: the four peak months. RideWise deal log, 181 US deals, 2023-02 to 2026-10. Sources: Doctor of Credit, Slickdeals, Frequent Miler, retailer pages and Uber's newsroom. Download the full log (CSV).
What the log shows:
- Two seasons. 47 deals started in November or December, and 47 in May or June (around Mother's Day and Father's Day). Together, those four months hold 52% of all deals.
- The best deals cluster at Thanksgiving. Of the 37 deals worth 20% or more, 11 started in November, and 8 started between Thanksgiving and Cyber Monday.
- January and September are quiet. Only 5 deals each.
- A normal Uber deal is 10% off. A normal Lyft deal is 15% off. Lyft deals are rarer, but a bit deeper when they come.

"Typical" is the median deal. Store-credit deals count the credit as value back, so "buy a $50 card, get a $10 store gift card" counts as 20%. Deals that covered either card count in both tables. Costco's typical deal shows 25% because most of its logged deals are short $74.99 sales. Its everyday price, when the cards are in stock, is 20% off.
So what should you do this year? If you need a card for a holiday gift and Costco is not an option, wait for Thanksgiving week if you can. That is when Amazon has cut Lyft cards 20%, and grocers like Market Basket (and Dollar General in 2023) have taken 20% off Uber cards. If nothing shows up by early December, buy at face value and move on. A $5 to $10 saving is not worth missing the gift.
How Far Does a $50 or $100 Gift Card Go? Our 26-City Table
A gift card is easier to pick when you know what it buys. So we priced one normal ride in the 26 metros on our rate cards: 5 miles and 20 minutes, no surge. That is about a ride across town to dinner, a friend's place, or the train station.
Then we counted how many of those rides each card fully pays for. There is one twist. An Uber card pays the tip too, and a Lyft card does not. So for Uber we added a 15% tip before counting. For Lyft we counted the fare only, because the tip goes on the rider's own card.
| Metro | UberX ride | Uber card | Lyft ride | Lyft card |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| New York City | $21.05 | 2 / 4 | $20.30 | 2 / 4 |
| San Francisco | $18.40 | 2 / 4 | $17.60 | 2 / 5 |
| Boston | $17.80 | 2 / 4 | $17.10 | 2 / 5 |
| San Diego | $17.55 | 2 / 4 | $16.40 | 3 / 6 |
| Washington, DC | $17.05 | 2 / 5 | $16.35 | 3 / 6 |
| Seattle | $16.50 | 2 / 5 | $15.80 | 3 / 6 |
| Chicago | $16.35 | 2 / 5 | $15.65 | 3 / 6 |
| Philadelphia | $16.15 | 2 / 5 | $15.43 | 3 / 6 |
| Los Angeles | $15.90 | 2 / 5 | $15.15 | 3 / 6 |
| Portland | $15.30 | 2 / 5 | $14.62 | 3 / 6 |
| Las Vegas | $15.20 | 2 / 5 | $14.48 | 3 / 6 |
| Austin | $14.50 | 2 / 5 | $13.88 | 3 / 7 |
| Miami | $14.10 | 3 / 6 | $13.40 | 3 / 7 |
| Minneapolis | $14.10 | 3 / 6 | $13.38 | 3 / 7 |
| Charlotte | $13.99 | 3 / 6 | $13.39 | 3 / 7 |
| Columbus | $13.90 | 3 / 6 | $13.75 | 3 / 7 |
| Denver | $13.75 | 3 / 6 | $13.05 | 3 / 7 |
| Nashville | $13.67 | 3 / 6 | $13.00 | 3 / 7 |
| Atlanta | $13.35 | 3 / 6 | $12.72 | 3 / 7 |
| Houston | $13.30 | 3 / 6 | $12.57 | 3 / 7 |
| New Orleans | $13.16 | 3 / 6 | $12.47 | 4 / 8 |
| Dallas–Fort Worth | $12.95 | 3 / 6 | $12.25 | 4 / 8 |
| Orlando | $12.93 | 3 / 6 | $12.25 | 4 / 8 |
| Phoenix | $12.80 | 3 / 6 | $12.18 | 4 / 8 |
| Indianapolis | $12.57 | 3 / 6 | $12.21 | 4 / 8 |
| San Antonio | $12.10 | 3 / 7 | $11.63 | 4 / 8 |
Uber rides counted as fare plus a 15% tip, because Uber says its gift cards "cover taxes, fees, and tips." Lyft rides counted as fare only, because Lyft's help pages say tips go on the rider's own card, not Lyft Cash. Fares are the midpoint of our estimate for each metro. Your app price will differ with traffic, demand and the exact route.
What the table tells you:
- A $100 Uber card is 4 to 7 rides. It buys 4 in New York City, San Francisco, Boston and San Diego, and 7 in San Antonio.
- A $50 card is a "two or three rides" gift almost everywhere. That is a nice treat, not a month of rides.
- The Lyft card looks bigger, but it isn't. It stretches a bit further only because the rider pays the tip from their own card.
Paying for a Holiday Ride Home From the Airport? Buy This Card Size
One of the best uses of a ride gift is the trip home from the airport. Your parent lands tired, with bags, and the ride is already paid. But airport rides cost more than city rides, and holiday rush pricing can push them higher.
So we priced the ride from 17 busy airports to downtown, using the same route each RideWise airport page shows. Each total adds the airport's pickup fee and a 15% tip. The rush column adds 50% to the time and distance charge. That is a cushion for Thanksgiving and Christmas travel days, not a forecast.
| Airport | Fare + fee | With tip | Rush | Buy |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ATL → Atlanta | $20.01 + $3.85 | $26.86 | $37.14 | $50 |
| DFW → Dallas | $37.19 + $5.00 | $47.77 | $67.95 | $100 |
| DEN → Denver | $44.19 + $4.00 | $54.82 | $78.99 | $100 |
| ORD → Chicago | $45.40 + $5.00 | $57.21 | $81.98 | $100 |
| LAX → Los Angeles | $35.16 + $4.00 | $44.43 | $63.33 | $100 |
| MCO → Orlando | $21.04 + $7.00 | $31.20 | $42.10 | $50 |
| SFO → San Francisco | $36.71 + $6.00 | $48.22 | $67.90 | $100 |
| SEA → Seattle | $33.02 + $6.00* | $43.97 | $61.64 | $100 |
| BOS → Boston | $11.68 + $5.50 | $18.93 | $24.28 | $25 |
| PHX → Phoenix | $11.31 + $5.00 | $18.01 | $23.33 | $25 |
| MIA → Miami | $18.06 + $2.00 | $22.77 | $31.89 | $50 |
| IAH → Houston | $37.94 + $3.00 | $46.63 | $67.25 | $100 |
| MSP → Minneapolis | $18.81 + $3.92 | $25.55 | $35.15 | $50 |
| DCA → Washington | $14.81 + $5.00 | $22.03 | $29.20 | $50 |
| IAD → Washington | $67.00 + $5.00 | $82.05 | $119.23 | $150 |
| BNA → Nashville | $17.35 + $5.00 | $24.95 | $33.73 | $50 |
| SAN → San Diego | $10.83 + $5.00 | $17.45 | $21.47 | $25 |
Totals = UberX fare + 15% tip on the fare + the airport's pickup fee. Rush = the same ride with a 1.5x multiplier on time and distance. Routes and fares match each airport page on 2026-10-03. Pickup fees come from our airport fee table (*SEA is the last fee the Port published).
Flying into New York? We left JFK, LaGuardia and Newark out of the table. Our rate card skips New York's surcharges, tax and tolls, so it runs low there. Our own NYC airport guides put a normal UberX at about $40 to $65 from LaGuardia, $45 to $75 from JFK and $70 to $110 from Newark to Manhattan, before rush pricing. For a holiday pickup, a $100 card for LaGuardia and $150 for JFK or Newark is the safer gift.
The short version:
- A $50 card covers the rush total at only 9 of 17 airports.
- 8 airports need $100 or more once you add the fee, the tip and a holiday cushion. IAD is the most expensive on our list at $119.23.
- Only 3 airports fit in a $25 card, because they sit close to downtown.
What Uber and Lyft Gift Cards Can (and Can't) Pay For
Both cards turn into store credit inside the app. Uber calls it Uber Cash. Lyft calls it Lyft Cash. The rules are close, but not the same, and the differences matter for a gift.

Can you use an Uber gift card for Uber Eats?
Yes. Uber says its gift cards are "redeemable in the Uber and Uber Eats apps," and that Uber Cash can pay for "rides and all orders on Uber Eats." One balance covers both. This is why an Uber card is the safer gift for someone who rarely rides: they can still use it on dinner.
Three Uber rules that catch people out
- It pays first, automatically. Uber Cash becomes your default payment. You can switch it off for a ride if you want to save it.
- You still need a card on file. Uber says you need "an active payment method" to use Uber Cash. If the ride costs more than the balance, the rest goes on that card.
- It stays in the US. Uber's terms say "Uber Cash may not be redeemed outside of the United States." A US card is a poor gift for a relative abroad.
Three Lyft rules that catch people out
- No tips, no Pink. Lyft's help pages say tips and "some fees" are charged to your own card, and its Lyft Cash terms rule out memberships, which Lyft says includes Lyft Pink.
- Deleting the account wipes the balance. Lyft calls it an "irrevocable loss."
- Lyft's site sends you to Amazon. The "send a gift card" button on lyft.com goes to Amazon. To buy straight from Lyft, use the app.
How to Use an Uber Gift Card
- Open the Uber app and tap Account, then Wallet.
- On the Uber Cash card, tap Add funds, then Gift card.
- Type the code or PIN with no spaces. For a store card, you can also scan the QR code on the back.
- Tap Add. The amount shows as Uber Cash in your Wallet.
Got an email or text gift? Tap the link in the message, or copy the code into the same screen. In Uber Eats the path is the same: Account, Wallet, Add funds, Gift card.
How to check your Uber gift card balance: open Wallet. Your Uber Cash balance is at the top. Uber has no public balance checker website, so be wary of any site that asks for your code to "check" it.
How to Use a Lyft Gift Card
- If it came by email, tap the link. Lyft adds it for you.
- If not, open the Lyft app menu and tap Payment, then Gift card.
- Enter the gift card code (16 digits on an emailed card) and the PIN.
- Check Payment then Lyft Cash to see the new balance.
Buying for someone else? Lyft's help page has one clear warning: "don't add the gift card code to your account." Once it is redeemed, the value is locked to that account and can't be moved.
Is a Gift Card the Best Ride Gift? Better Options by Person
A gift card is great when you don't know when the person will ride. For some people, another option works better. Here is how we would choose.
| Who it's for | Best option | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Friend or adult child, any time | Uber gift card | Works for rides and Uber Eats, pays tips, never expires |
| One airport pickup on a set day | Uber Send a Ride voucher | Covers $25, $50 or $100 for one ride or a round trip, and you pay only what is used. Send it within two days of the ride |
| Parent or grandparent who rides often | Uber senior account, or a Lyft Silver invite | Uber lets a family organizer book and pay for them with a credit or debit card (Uber Cash doesn't work on Family profiles). Lyft Silver is a simpler mode of the Lyft app. Your invite can include a gift card, and if they add you as a trusted contact, you get ride updates |
| Grandparent who won't use an app | Book for them, or 1-833-USE-UBER | Request a ride for another adult from your own app, or let them call Uber's ride line (it needs a phone that gets texts and a card on file) |
| Teen (13 to 17) | Uber or Lyft teen account on your family plan | You stay the payer and see every trip; Uber Cash doesn't work on Family profiles |
| Someone who mostly orders food | Uber gift card | The only one of the two that covers food delivery |
| Someone in another country | Not a US card | US-bought cards only work in the US. Look for a card sold in their country, or send money another way |
Send a Ride is the hidden gem here. Uber's help pages say the voucher covers "$25, $50 or $100" per ride, includes the tip, and charges you only for what the ride actually cost. It expires 48 hours after you create it, so send it no more than two days before the pickup. You need a credit card to send one, and the rider needs a credit card on their account to cover anything over the limit. For a single Thanksgiving pickup, that beats a $100 gift card, because you pay only for the ride that happened. Uber says it is still "being gradually rolled out," so check that you see it in your app first.
For older riders, our guide to Uber and Lyft for seniors walks through the senior account and phone booking. For teens, see Uber Teen vs Lyft Teen.
How to Avoid Gift Card Scams and Bad Sellers
Scammers like gift cards because the money is gone the moment you share the code. In 2024, people told the FTC they lost $212 million paying scammers with gift cards and reload cards, across 41,120 reports (FTC Consumer Sentinel Data Book 2024). The FTC's rule of thumb is simple: "No real business or government agency will ever tell you to buy a gift card to pay them" (FTC).
Scammers go after Uber accounts too. In a case NBC 6 reported in March 2026, a caller who claimed to be from Uber's security team talked a South Florida driver into typing a gift card number into his Uber app. Over the next few weeks, $2,059 left his Uber wallet. After NBC 6 contacted Uber, the company gave him $2,060 (NBC 6). Uber's own gift card checkout says it plainly: "Never use a gift card to pay a debt and never provide card information to someone you don't know."
Five rules that keep your card safe
- Never read a code to anyone. Not a "support agent," not a caller who says you owe money. To reach real support, start from the Help section in the app.
- Don't google a support phone number. Fake "Uber customer service" numbers are a known trap. Use the Help menu in the app instead. Our Uber and Lyft support guides list the real routes.
- Check the package in stores. Thieves peel back the cover, copy the code, and wait for you to load the card. The FTC says to make sure "the protective stickers are on the card" and the PIN isn't showing. If anything looks off, pick another card.
- Keep the receipt and a photo of the card. The FTC says to keep both, so you can report a problem to the card company and ask for your money back. Neither Uber nor Lyft replaces a lost or stolen card.
- Pay with a credit card if you can. The FTC says that gives you the most protection: if there's a problem, you can file a chargeback and might get your money back (FTC).
What about cheap codes on Eneba or card resale sites?
We don't recommend them for a gift. On October 3, 2026, Eneba listed a $100 US Uber code from $94.93 before its checkout fee, about 5% off, and the instant refund disappears once you view the key. That is a smaller discount than the legitimate deals above. SEAGM listed a $100 Uber code for $103.24, more than face value. CardCash, a card-resale site, offered only a couple of percent off and notes that "Uber is not a participating partner."
The bigger risk is the account. Uber's terms let it "suspend or void" Uber Cash it suspects was "obtained or used fraudulently." Lyft can "suspend, withhold, or deduct" a balance for the same reason. In January 2020, Uber suspended a wave of accounts that had redeemed gift cards, some with only a single $25 card. Its support team later blamed an "operational error" and restored them (Frequent Miler). With a resale code, you may not get that apology.
Do Uber and Lyft Gift Cards Expire? Your Rights
No. Uber's terms say "the load value of Uber Cash in the form of a Gift Card(s) never expires," and that no fees apply. Lyft's terms say purchased Lyft Cash "does not expire and is not subject to any fees." That is better than federal law requires. Under the 2009 CARD Act, the money on a store gift card can't expire within five years of when the card was bought or last loaded (12 CFR 1005.20).
Two things can still go away:
- Promo credits. Credits Uber or Lyft give you for free, like Uber One's ride credits, can expire. The gift card value you paid for does not.
- Your balance, if you delete the account. Lyft calls this an "irrevocable loss." Uber's help says it emails a PIN only for "the Uber Cash balance you previously purchased" in the app, and that other Uber Cash "will be permanently forfeited." It never says redeemed gift card value is covered. Spend the balance before deleting either account.
Small leftover balance? Uber says Uber Cash isn't redeemable for cash "except where required by law." Lyft's terms say Lyft Cash "is not redeemable for cash," though they allow refunds "to the extent required by law." Some states do require cash back on small balances. California, for example, gives cash back on gift card balances under $15 as of April 1, 2026 (Cal. Civ. Code §1749.5). We could not confirm whether that covers a balance already loaded into an app, and Oregon's cash-back rule does not apply to cards "redeemed to an online account" (ORS 646A.276). If you have a few dollars left, ask support; just don't count on it.
Our Take: The Smartest Way to Give a Ride This Holiday
After going through the rules, the prices and 181 deals, here is what we would do.
- Pick the app the person already uses. A card for an app they never open is an easy way to waste a ride gift. If you don't know, pick Uber: the card also works on Uber Eats.
- Give $50 for a treat, $100 for real use. In most cities $50 is two or three rides across town. $100 is four to seven.
- Buy at Costco if you can, at Thanksgiving week if you can wait, and at face value if you can't. Skip resale sites and code sellers for gifts.
- For one airport pickup, use Send a Ride, not a card. You pay only for the ride that happened (up to $100), and the tip is covered. Just send it within two days of the flight, because it expires.
- Tell them the one rule that matters: request the ride on demand. Uber Cash won't pay for a scheduled ride.

Frequently Asked Questions
Where can I buy a discounted Uber gift card?
On October 3, 2026, the best deal was Costco: two $50 Uber eGift cards for $79.99, 20% off, for members. Kroger's gift card site had a $50 Uber card for $45 through October 13, 2026, and some riders see 15% off in the Uber app under Account, then Send a gift. Most other stores sell Uber cards at face value.
Does Costco still sell Uber gift cards?
Yes. Costco brought back its Uber eGift deal on September 14, 2026: two $50 cards for $79.99. It is for members only, with one order of up to two packs every 14 days. Costco pulled the cards in early 2026, so buy while they are listed.
Can you use an Uber gift card for Uber Eats?
Yes. Uber says its gift cards are redeemable in both the Uber and Uber Eats apps. The card becomes Uber Cash, one balance that pays for rides and food orders in the US.
Can you use an Uber gift card to tip?
Yes. Uber says its gift cards cover taxes, fees and tips on an Uber transaction. Lyft is different: Lyft Cash cannot pay tips, so a Lyft rider tips from their own card.
Can I use Uber Cash on a scheduled ride?
No. Uber's terms say Uber Cash cannot be used for scheduled rides, and Uber Reserve is Uber's scheduled-ride option. It also does not work on Family profiles, university campus cards, or rides requested from the Uber website. Request the ride on demand in the app to use the balance.
Do Uber and Lyft gift cards expire?
No. Uber says gift card value loaded as Uber Cash never expires and has no fees. Lyft says purchased Lyft Cash does not expire and has no fees. Free promo credits from either company can expire.
Where can I buy a Lyft gift card?
Lyft lists 7-Eleven, Albertsons, CVS, Giant Eagle, Kroger, Safeway, Walgreens and Walmart. Online, Amazon, Target, Walmart, Best Buy, Staples, PayPal and giftcards.com sell them, and you can buy one in the Lyft app. Lyft's website sends gift card buyers to Amazon.
How do I check my Uber gift card balance?
Open the Uber app and go to Account, then Wallet. Your Uber Cash balance shows there after you redeem the card. Uber has no public balance-check website, so do not type your code into sites that offer to check it.
Can I use a US Uber or Lyft gift card in another country?
No. Uber's terms say Uber Cash may not be redeemed outside the United States, and Lyft says US-dollar gift cards can only be redeemed by recipients in the US. They make a poor gift for someone abroad.
How many rides does a $50 Uber gift card cover?
Usually two or three. In our 26-city table, a 5-mile, 20-minute UberX ride plus a 15% tip costs about $14 to $24, so $50 covers two rides in pricier cities like New York and three in cheaper ones like San Antonio. A $100 card covers four to seven.
