1. Overview

RideWise ("we," "us," or "our") operates the getridewise.com website. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices regarding your data. We are committed to keeping things simple — we collect as little data as possible to provide our free price comparison service.

2. Information We Collect

Information you provide

  • Pickup and drop-off locations entered in our search form
  • Email address (only if you choose to contact us)

Information collected automatically

  • IP address and approximate geographic location
  • Browser type, device type, and operating system
  • Pages visited, time spent, and referral source
  • Cookies and similar tracking technologies (see Section 5)

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To calculate and display ride price estimates for your requested route
  • To improve our service, fix bugs, and analyze usage patterns
  • To display relevant advertisements (via Google AdSense)
  • To respond to inquiries if you contact us

We do not create user accounts, sell personal data, or share your location history with third parties for marketing purposes. Location data entered in the search form is used only to calculate your price estimate and is not stored long-term.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services that may collect data independently:

  • Google Places API — to provide address autocomplete. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
  • Google Analytics (GA4) — to understand how visitors use our site. Collects anonymized usage data. Loaded only after you accept cookies.
  • Google AdSense — to display advertisements. May use cookies for ad personalization.
  • Mediavine — our advertising management partner. See the full Mediavine disclosure below.
  • Attrifast — a traffic-attribution script that helps us understand which sources send visitors to RideWise. Loaded only after you accept cookies.

Each of these services has its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review Google's Privacy Policy at policies.google.com/privacy.

Advertising cookies and your choices

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet. You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. Alternatively, you can opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info.

Mediavine Programmatic Advertising (Ver 1.1)

The Website works with Mediavine to manage third-party interest-based advertising appearing on the Website. Mediavine serves content and advertisements when you visit the Website, which may use first and third-party cookies. A cookie is a small text file which is sent to your computer or mobile device (referred to in this policy as a “device”) by the web server so that a website can remember some information about your browsing activity on the Website.

First party cookies are created by the website that you are visiting. A third-party cookie is frequently used in behavioral advertising and analytics and is created by a domain other than the website you are visiting. Third-party cookies, tags, pixels, beacons and other similar technologies (collectively, “Tags”) may be placed on the Website to monitor interaction with advertising content and to target and optimize advertising. Each internet browser has functionality so that you can block both first and third-party cookies and clear your browser’s cache. The "help" feature of the menu bar on most browsers will tell you how to stop accepting new cookies, how to receive notification of new cookies, how to disable existing cookies and how to clear your browser’s cache. For more information about cookies and how to disable them, you can consult the information at All About Cookies.

Without cookies you may not be able to take full advantage of the Website content and features. Please note that rejecting cookies does not mean that you will no longer see ads when you visit our Site. In the event you opt-out, you will still see non-personalized advertisements on the Website.

The Website collects the following data using a cookie when serving personalized ads:

  • IP Address
  • Operating System type
  • Operating System version
  • Device Type
  • Language of the website
  • Web browser type
  • Email (in hashed form)

Mediavine Partners (companies listed below with whom Mediavine shares data) may also use this data to link to other end user information the partner has independently collected to deliver targeted advertisements. Mediavine Partners may also separately collect data about end users from other sources, such as advertising IDs or pixels, and link that data to data collected from Mediavine publishers in order to provide interest-based advertising across your online experience, including devices, browsers and apps. This data includes usage data, cookie information, device information, information about interactions between users and advertisements and websites, geolocation data, traffic data, and information about a visitor’s referral source to a particular website. Mediavine Partners may also create unique IDs to create audience segments, which are used to provide targeted advertising.

If you would like more information about this practice and to know your choices to opt-in or opt-out of this data collection, please visit National Advertising Initiative opt out page. You may also visit Digital Advertising Alliance website and Network Advertising Initiative website to learn more information about interest-based advertising. You may download the AppChoices app at Digital Advertising Alliance’s AppChoices app to opt out in connection with mobile apps, or use the platform controls on your mobile device to opt out.

For specific information about Mediavine Partners, the data each collects and their data collection and privacy policies, please visit Mediavine Partners.

5. Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies for analytics and advertising purposes. When you first visit RideWise you can accept or decline analytics cookies via the consent banner; if you decline, our analytics and attribution scripts are not loaded. You can also control cookies through your browser settings at any time. Disabling cookies may affect the functionality of third-party features (such as Google Places autocomplete) but will not prevent you from using our core price comparison service.

US state privacy rights

If you are a resident of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, or another US state with a comprehensive privacy law, you may have additional rights, including the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to deletion, and the right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information as those terms are defined under applicable law. We do not sell personal information for money. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the email in Section 10.

6. Data Retention

We do not maintain user accounts or databases of personal information. Search queries (pickup/drop-off locations) are processed in real-time and are not stored beyond the active browser session. Analytics data is retained per Google Analytics' default retention settings (14 months).

7. Children's Privacy

Our service is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will promptly remove it.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you. Since we collect minimal data and do not maintain user accounts, there is generally no stored personal data to access or delete. For any privacy-related requests, contact us at the email below.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of RideWise after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
