Where to Get Picked Up at MCO

MCO charges a $5.80 rideshare pickup surcharge (set by Greater Orlando Aviation Authority, effective July 2024). The fee is the same on both Uber and Lyft, and is automatically included in your fare estimate. Pickup logistics differ by terminal:

Terminal A, B, C

Level 1 (ground level) rideshare pickup at each terminal

Terminal C is the newest (opened 2022); pickup zone is the most modern and least congested.

When Surge Hits Hardest at MCO

Peak Surge Windows

Saturday and Sunday afternoons (1:00 PM – 6:00 PM) during peak tourism season (March-April, November-January) push surge above 1.7x as theme park visitors arrive and depart in waves.

Best Low-Surge Window

Weekday mid-mornings (10:00 AM – 12:00 PM) and weekday late evenings (after 9:00 PM) produce the lowest MCO surge multipliers.

Cheaper Alternatives to Rideshare at MCO

SunRail commuter rail does not directly reach MCO. Lynx Link bus 11 connects to Downtown Orlando for $2.00. The new Brightline train (opened September 2023) connects MCO directly to Miami and Fort Lauderdale for $79-$179 — a unique option for cross-Florida trips. Mears Connect shuttle to Disney and Universal hotels is $16-32 per person.

Recent Fee & Operational Changes at MCO

GOAA raised the rideshare pickup surcharge from $5.50 to $5.80 in July 2024. The bigger change was the September 2023 opening of Brightline's Orlando station inside MCO's Terminal C — the first major US airport with a high-speed rail connection inside the terminal complex.

MCO Pricing: Our Analysis

Depending on the resort, a typical MCO-to-Disney World UberX trip computes to about $48.40 from Uber's published Orlando rates plus the $5.80 pickup fee. Peak-season weekend surge pushes the same trip toward $68.20, while an off-peak weekday ride can run closer to $38.10. The Brightline-to-Miami fare of $79 vs. equivalent UberXL pricing for groups of 4 makes the train cost-competitive for the cross-Florida trip only with luggage discounts factored in.

Local Take: Rideshare at MCO

“Orlando rideshare is dominated by the Disney/Universal trip math. From MCO to Disney World is 17-25 miles depending on the resort, and the average rideshare runs $40-60 with surge. Mears Connect at $16-32 per person is often cheaper for families but slower (multi-stop shuttle). The Terminal C Brightline station is a genuinely new option for Miami/Fort Lauderdale trips — for groups of 2-3, the train often beats both rideshare and flights once you count parking and time-to-gate. For Disney trips specifically, check whether your resort still offers Disney Magical Express (most do not as of 2022) before booking rideshare.”

About Orlando International Airport

Orlando International Airport (MCO) serves the Orlando metropolitan area. Compare Uber, Lyft, and taxi prices for rides to and from MCO.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which level do Uber and Lyft use at Orlando International?
On Level 2 Ground Transportation at Terminals A and B; the newer Terminal C has its own pickup zone, so confirm which terminal your flight used before you request. The pickup pin in the app will match the correct door.
How long is the Uber ride from MCO to Disney World?
Around 20 minutes to the theme park area in normal traffic. Park opening and closing waves, plus I-4 congestion, can stretch that — and bump prices, since demand and trip time both feed the fare. The estimates above show current pricing to Orlando-area destinations.
Is rideshare the cheapest way to the theme parks from MCO?
For families it is usually rideshare or a shuttle — there is no direct rail to the parks. An UberXL or Lyft XL split among four or five people with luggage is often the best per-person deal, and car seats are the main planning wrinkle worth checking in advance.
Does MCO have train service at all?
Yes — Brightline trains now serve Orlando International, running south toward West Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale, and Miami, and SunRail operates nearby for regional trips. Neither reaches the theme parks, though, so park-bound travelers still need wheels.
Are taxis at Orlando airport worth taking over Uber?
Cabs hold their rate when app prices surge — typically during park-closing crunches, conventions, and storm delays. Outside those windows, Uber and Lyft upfront quotes usually run cheaper for the same trip. A quick comparison at the curb settles it.
When is traffic worst for rides from MCO?
Theme-park rhythms dominate Orlando roads: mornings toward the parks, evenings away from them, and I-4 rush hour layered on top. If your schedule is flexible, riding outside those waves is noticeably faster and often cheaper.
