Uber One is optional. You can book any ride or order without it, and the fee is billed separately from your trips. The only question that matters is whether the credits and fee waivers on things you would buy anyway add up to more than $9.99. This guide gives you every published price, every benefit, the exact break-even math, the cancellation rules, and a short comparison with Lyft Pink.

How Much Is Uber One?

Uber One costs $9.99 per month or $96 per year in the US. The annual plan works out to $8.00 a month, which saves $23.88 against twelve monthly payments ($119.88). Verified students pay $4.99 a month or $48 a year. Eligible first-time members get a 4-week free trial before the first charge.

How much is Uber One a month?

$9.99. That is the standard US price Uber shows at sign-up, billed to your card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or PayPal on the same day each month. Uber Cash can also be used toward the fee if you turn it on in Manage Membership. Sales tax may be added in some states.

How much is Uber One a year?

$96 if you prepay the annual plan, or $119.88 if you stay on monthly for twelve months. The annual plan only wins if you keep it the full year. Eight months of monthly billing costs $79.92, so a seasonal user is better off on monthly and cancelling in between.

Uber One student price

Is Uber One free?

Three ways to pay $0. First, the 4-week trial for first-time members. Second, family sharing: a standard paid member can add one adult from their household at no extra cost. Third, the Amex Platinum Uber One credit, which reimburses up to $120 of membership fees per calendar year. Details for each are in the promotions section below.

What Is Uber One?

Uber One is Uber's single paid subscription for rides and Uber Eats, launched to replace the separate Uber Pass and Eats Pass. For one $9.99 fee you get ride credits, delivery-fee waivers, order discounts and member-only offers, all tied to the Uber One icon that appears on eligible rides and stores. It works in both the Uber app and the Uber Eats app on the same account, and one paid membership can now be shared with one other adult in your household.

What it is not: a discount on every ride. The 5% comes back as credits after the trip, not as a lower upfront price, and Uber Eats savings only apply at participating stores once you meet their order minimum. Keep that distinction in mind when you read the benefits below.

Uber One Benefits

Uber One benefits split into two halves: 5% back on rides, and $0 Delivery Fee plus up to 10% off on Uber Eats. Everything else is a smaller extra.

Ride benefits

The headline is 5% back in Uber One credits on eligible rides, which Uber marks with the Uber One icon in the app. On a $20 ride you get $1.00 back; on a $50 airport run, $2.50. The credits arrive in your Uber wallet after the trip, sometimes with a short delay, listed as "Uber One ride" credits. You can spend them on your next ride or Uber Eats order, and Uber applies the soonest-expiring credits first. Two rules cut into the value: you cannot earn credits on the part of a trip you pay with credits, and unused credits expire after 60 days.

Members also get priority access to top-rated drivers where available, and Automatic Surge Savings, which Uber describes as discounts on eligible rides when demand is higher than usual. Uber Eats benefits

The Eats side has two parts. $0 Delivery Fee applies on standard delivery within at least 3 miles from stores marked with the gold Uber One icon, once your subtotal meets the minimum shown on that storefront. Up to 10% off eligible delivery and pickup orders over the same minimum is applied as a reduced Service Fee. Taxes, tips, Priority Delivery and Long Range Delivery fees are all still charged, and they do not count toward the order minimum.

For most members this is where the money is. A delivery fee is typically a few dollars per order, so two or three orders a week can clear the $9.99 fee before you count a single ride credit.

Travel and other extras

Uber's product page lists 10% back in Uber One credits on hotel bookings made through Uber, at least 20% off select properties, and 10% credits on car rentals booked through Uber. These only matter if you would book travel through the Uber app anyway. Global benefits let you earn credits and $0 Delivery Fee abroad, but only in countries where the same benefit exists, with credits paid in your home currency.

Is Uber One Worth It? The Break-Even Math

Uber One is worth it on rides alone once you spend more than $199.80 a month on eligible rides, because 5% of $199.80 is $9.99, which covers the $9.99 fee. Below that line you need Uber Eats orders to make up the gap.

One wrinkle: Uber's US membership page says 5%, but its ride-credits help article still says 6%. Check the rate shown in your own Wallet. At 6% the ride-only break-even drops to $166.50 a month; every table below uses the 5% figure Uber currently advertises.

Here is what the 5% credit earns at five monthly ride-spend levels, assuming you redeem every credit before it expires and take no Eats orders:

The table is blunt: at $100 a month on rides, which is roughly five or six typical trips, you are still $4.99 short. Rides alone only justify the membership for people who ride most weeks. Move to the annual plan and the bar drops to $160.00 a month, because the fee is $8.00 instead of $9.99.

How many rides is that?

It depends on your city's fares. Using the RideWise rate card for a 5-mile, 20-minute UberX with no surge:

So a New Yorker needs about 10 short rides a month, while someone in Atlanta needs 15, because cheaper fares earn smaller credits. Longer rides break even faster: a single $60 airport trip earns $3.00, nearly a third of the fee. Check your own typical fare in the calculator, multiply by 5%, and divide $9.99 by the result.

Three rider profiles

The ride math changes completely once Uber Eats enters. These three profiles use illustrative assumptions (an $18 average ride, a $3.99 delivery fee, a $30 order subtotal, and the full 10% order discount) so you can see where the value comes from:

Occasional rider. Two $18 rides a month is $36.00 of spend and $1.80 of credits. That leaves you $8.19 behind every month, about $98.28 a year. Skip it, or use the free trial for a month you know will be busy.

Weekly commuter. Twelve $18 rides is $216.00 of spend and $10.80 of credits, so you finish $0.81 ahead. The membership is roughly free, and Automatic Surge Savings or a couple of Eats orders tip it into clearly positive territory. On the annual plan the same rider nets $2.80 a month.

Eats-heavy household. Eight delivery orders a month waive about $31.92 in delivery fees before you count the up-to-10% order discount or the $3.60 in ride credits. Even if the order discount were zero, this household is $25.53 ahead. This is the profile Uber One is built for.

One caveat applies to every row: the numbers assume you would have taken those rides and placed those orders anyway. Ordering more delivery to "use" the membership is not saving money.

Uber One vs Lyft Pink

Uber One and Lyft Pink both cost $9.99 a month and both break even at $199.80 of monthly ride spend, but Pink gives a 5% discount at checkout while Uber One gives 5% back as credits, and only Uber One includes food delivery.

The practical difference: a Pink discount is money you never spend, while an Uber One credit is money you must spend on Uber within 60 days. If you ride both apps, pick the one whose app you open more, because neither membership makes its rides cheaper than the other app's quote on a given day. How to Cancel Uber One

You can cancel Uber One anytime in the app with no cancellation fee, and paid members keep their benefits until the end of the current billing period. Uber's cancellation help page gives these steps:

1. Open the Uber app and select the profile icon.
2. Select Uber One.
3. Scroll down and select Manage Membership.
4. Select End Membership, then End Membership again to confirm.

The same path works in the Uber Eats app under Account. Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription.

Refund rules

• Paid membership: benefits continue to the end of the billing period you already paid for. The fee is non-refundable once a billing cycle begins, except where the law requires otherwise.
• Cancelled within 24 hours of renewal: you may see a new charge, and Uber says it is refunded automatically.
• Free trial: benefits end the moment you cancel, so cancel on the last day if you want the full 4 weeks.
• Third-party promotional trial: benefits run until the promotional period ends, then stop.
• Credits: Uber One credits and Uber Cash earned through the membership can be revoked when the membership ends, so spend them first.

Uber One Promotions, Free Trials and Discounts

Uber currently publishes five ways to pay less than $9.99: a 4-week free trial, the $4.99 student plan, free family sharing, partner-funded memberships, and the $120 Amex Platinum credit.

4-week free trial

Eligible first-time members can claim a 4-week free trial. Uber's terms say the trial is only for people who have never had Uber One or Eats Pass, including previous free trials, unless Uber sends a re-join offer. Your card is charged the plan price when the trial ends, so set a reminder for day 27. Cancelling during the trial ends benefits immediately rather than at the end of the four weeks.

Student plan at half price

$4.99 a month or $48 a year for verified students aged 18 or over, purchased in the Uber Eats app under Account, Uber One, Student. Verification runs through SheerID using your name, birthday, school email and university; you are not charged until verification passes and any trial ends. SheerID keeps your details for up to two years so annual renewals do not need re-verification.

Family sharing at no cost

Standard paid members can share their Uber One benefits with one adult from their household at no additional cost. Open Account, Uber One, Manage membership, Family sharing, then Invite someone and send the link. The second member gets the same $0 Delivery Fee and 5% ride credits. You can only invite one person, and you can only replace them once per year, according to Uber's family sharing page. Two people sharing one plan effectively halves the fee to about $5.00 each.

Amex Platinum $120 Uber One credit

US Consumer Platinum Card members can receive up to $120 in statement credits per calendar year on Uber One fees charged to the card, which covers twelve months at $9.99 or the $96 annual plan. To get it, the Platinum card must be the payment method for the membership and Uber Cash must be toggled off for the fee, per American Express. The credit does not apply to free-trial periods or to any part of the fee paid with Uber Cash or credits, and it can take up to 8 weeks to post. This is a reimbursement, not automatic free membership.

Partner-funded and promo memberships

Uber's help page says it partners with third parties that offer discounted or free memberships to eligible users. Those members keep whatever benefit structure came with the offer until it expires, and some partner passes do not include the full Uber One benefit set.
