Where to Get Picked Up at LAS

LAS charges a $2.50 rideshare pickup surcharge (set by Clark County Department of Aviation, effective July 2022). The fee is the same on both Uber and Lyft, and is automatically included in your fare estimate. Pickup logistics differ by terminal:

Terminal 1

Level 2M (mezzanine level) rideshare pickup

Terminal 1 is the older facility; pickup zone is busy but well-organized.

Terminal 3

Level 2 (departures) rideshare pickup zone

Terminal 3 serves international and select domestic carriers; pickup zone is less congested.

When Surge Hits Hardest at LAS

Peak Surge Windows

Friday and Saturday late afternoons through evenings (3:00 PM – 11:00 PM) sustain surge above 1.5x throughout convention and event weekends. Sunday return banks (3:00 PM – 7:00 PM) are equally bad.

Best Low-Surge Window

Weekday mid-mornings (9:00 AM – 12:00 PM) outside major convention weeks (CES, NAB, MAGIC) produce the lowest LAS surge.

Cheaper Alternatives to Rideshare at LAS

The RTC Westcliff and Centennial Express buses connect LAS to the Strip and Downtown Las Vegas for $2.00 — a $15-25 savings vs. rideshare, but with limited schedules. Taxi flat rate from LAS to the Strip is $20-30 metered. Most Strip hotels offer their own shuttle service.

Recent Fee & Operational Changes at LAS

Clark County raised the rideshare pickup surcharge from $2.00 to $2.50 in July 2022 — modest by airport standards. Las Vegas has resisted larger fee increases despite high traffic volume, likely because the tourism industry pressures county officials to keep airport access cheap. The Terminal 3 rideshare pickup zone was expanded in 2025 to handle international growth from Mexico and Asia.

LAS Pricing: Our Analysis

A typical LAS-to-Strip UberX trip works out to about $19.40 from Uber's published Las Vegas rates plus the $2.50 pickup fee. Convention-week evening surge can push the same short ride toward $34.20, while an off-peak weekday midday trip can run closer to $14.80. Las Vegas surge variance is extreme — during major conventions, fares can run as much as 230% above typical levels, the widest spread of any US airport we cover.

Local Take: Rideshare at LAS

“Las Vegas rideshare is unusual because nearly every trip is short — most riders are going Strip-to-Strip or LAS-to-Strip, all under 5 miles. That makes the $2.50 pickup surcharge a disproportionately large fraction of the total fare. The biggest LAS rideshare hack is convention surge avoidance: if you are flying in during CES (early January) or any of the major shows, request a Lyft from inside the terminal before walking to the pickup zone — by the time you arrive there, you may be paired with a base-fare driver who was already cycling through. Strip hotel pickups via the rideshare zones at MGM Grand, Caesars, and Bellagio are also reliable and sometimes cheaper than the airport equivalent.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is rideshare pickup at Harry Reid International?
On Level 2 of the Terminal 1 parking garage — follow the signs from baggage claim. If you land at Terminal 3, the app directs you to its own designated pickup area instead, so check which terminal your airline uses before walking.
How much does an Uber to the Strip cost from LAS?
The airport sits just 5 miles from the Strip, with most hotel rides taking 15-25 minutes, so this is one of the cheaper big-city airport transfers in the country — short trips often land near the minimum fare. See the live estimates above for current pricing.
Is there a train from the Las Vegas airport to the Strip?
No — LAS has no direct rail link, so it is rideshare, taxi, or shuttle. With the distance so short, the cost gap between options is smaller than at most airports; compare the current quotes before defaulting to any of them.
Taxi versus Uber in Vegas — which should I grab?
Rideshare shows a fixed upfront price, which removes any worry about route padding on the way to your hotel. Cabs shine when conventions or fight nights push app prices into surge. Glance at both before joining either line — at 5 miles, the difference is usually a few dollars, not a fortune.
When do rideshare prices surge in Las Vegas?
Big conventions, holiday weekends, and major events on the Strip are the reliable triggers, along with Sunday morning checkout waves when half the city heads to the airport at once. If your quote spikes, waiting a short while or comparing Lyft against Uber frequently saves money.
Can I schedule a ride to the airport for my Vegas departure?
Yes — Uber Reserve and the scheduled rides feature in Lyft both work for LAS runs, and they are worth using on peak checkout mornings when on-demand cars get scarce. Hotel taxi lines are the backup; they run continuously at major Strip properties.
