Uber Shuttle in 30 seconds
  • What it is: a scheduled shared van on fixed routes, booked in the Uber app.
  • Where it runs (September 2026): JFK, LaGuardia, Newark and Boston Logan.
  • What it costs: Uber does not publish one fare. Reported seat prices run about $18–$25 in New York and about $10–$15 in Boston.
  • Is it worth it: almost always for one or two travelers. At JFK and Newark it stays cheaper than an average Uber for a group of four.

What Is Uber Shuttle?

Uber Shuttle is Uber's airport van service. In Uber's words, it is "a fixed-route, scheduled service that runs between designated pick-up and drop-off locations." You book a seat, meet the van at a set stop, and ride with other travelers.

The vans are not driven by regular Uber drivers. Uber says the trips "are operated by third-party shuttle operators" that use their own drivers (Uber JFK Shuttle page).

It is also different from UberX Share. With Share, a regular car picks you up near your door, you can request only one seat, and the price can include surge (Uber). With Shuttle, you walk to a set stop, you can book up to 5 seats, and each seat includes a bag.

Is Uber Shuttle discontinued?

Not in the US. The discontinuation news is about India: Uber ended Shuttle in Delhi NCR after March 27, 2026, after pulling it from Mumbai and Hyderabad in 2025 (Entrackr). In the US, Uber's shuttle pages list routes at JFK, LaGuardia, Newark and Boston Logan as of September 13, 2026, and say "more airports coming soon" (Uber).

One US change to know: Atlanta. Uber announced an ATL shuttle in April 2025, set to start that May (Axios), but ATL no longer appears on Uber's shuttle or airport pages.

How Does Uber Shuttle Work?

  1. Open the Uber app, enter your pickup and drop-off, and choose Shuttle.
  2. Pick a route and departure time. You can book up to 3 days ahead, right up until departure.
  3. Review the fare and choose your seats. Uber's airport pages say you can reserve up to 5 seats in one booking.
  4. Track the van in the app starting 15 minutes before pickup. Uber recommends arriving at least 5 minutes early.
  5. When you board, scan the QR code in your app to check in.

Schedules and seat availability are only shown in the app. Uber warns that "seats can fill up fast," so book early if you are traveling at a busy time (Uber).

Uber Shuttle Routes and Stops: JFK, LaGuardia, Newark and Boston

Uber lists 13 shuttle routes across four airports. Every route runs both ways. Here are the stops in order, taken from Uber's airport shuttle pages on September 13, 2026.

JFK Uber Shuttle routes

RouteCity stops (in order)JFK pickup

Heads-up for Terminal 5: JFK says regular ride-app pickups at Terminals 5 and 7 have temporarily moved to the Howard Beach AirTrain station during construction. Uber's shuttle page still lists T5 Pillar 0, so check the pickup pin in your app before you walk out. For every other way into Manhattan, see our JFK to Manhattan cost guide.

LaGuardia is also the cheapest NYC airport to leave by transit, thanks to the free Q70 bus. Our LGA to Manhattan guide compares the shuttle with the bus, UberX and taxis.

Newark (EWR) Uber Shuttle routes

RouteCity stops (in order)EWR pickup
Times Square ↔ EWRTheatre District (54th St & 7th Ave) → Theatre District (50th St & 7th Ave) → Times Square (46th St & 7th Ave) → Penn Station (34th St & 7th Ave) → Chelsea (25th St & 7th Ave) → West Village (4th St & 7th Ave)EWR Terminal B (Zone 5); EWR Terminal C (Zone 7)

Newark trips cross the Hudson, which adds tolls and fees to a regular Uber. Our Newark to Manhattan guide breaks those down.

Boston Logan (BOS) Uber Shuttle routes

RouteCity stops (in order, after leaving Logan)Logan pickup (arrivals)
Cambridge ↔ BOSKendall Square → MIT → Central Square → Harvard Square → Porter SquareBOS Terminal A Arrivals; BOS Terminal B1 Arrivals; BOS Terminal B2 Arrivals; BOS Terminal C Arrivals
Central Boston ↔ BOSNorth Station → Kenmore Square → Boston UniversityBOS Terminal A Arrivals; BOS Terminal B1 Arrivals; BOS Terminal B2 Arrivals; BOS Terminal C Arrivals

At launch in April 2026, both Boston routes ran 2 p.m. to midnight, every 30 minutes, seven days a week (Massport, WBUR). Riders heading to Logan also get Massport's "Ticket to Skip," which lets you go to the front of the security line (Massport).

How Much Does Uber Shuttle Cost?

Uber does not publish a fixed shuttle fare. Its airport pages say prices "may vary depending on various factors including a rider's point of origin, departure, time of request, and/or the availability of promotional discounts." You see the exact price before you book (Uber).

What we can show is what the shuttle has cost at each airport, with the date of each report:

AirportReported price per seatWhenSource
LaGuardia$18Launch, October 2024Crain's New York
JFK"Up to $25" one way; $10 intro price through April 30, 2025Launch, March 2025Engadget
Newark"Under $15 for a limited time"Launch, December 2025Uber Newsroom

Boston Logan$3 the first week, then $10 for at least a month; "may go up to $15" after thatLaunch, April 2026WBUR

So for planning, budget about $18–$25 a seat in New York and about $10–$15 in Boston, then check the app. Launch deals end, so an old "$10 shuttle" post does not mean you will pay $10 today.

The JohnnyJet report shows why people use it. When the writer landed at Newark, an UberX was quoted at $79.99 and the shuttle cost $19.99, about a quarter of the price.

Uber Shuttle vs Uber: When Does the Shuttle Save Money?

A shuttle seat is priced per person. A car is priced per trip. So the real question is: how many people are traveling?

To answer it, we used Uber's own numbers. Each Uber airport page shows an estimated average price, distance and travel time for trips from the city. We compared that with the seat prices above.

AirportUber average priceAverage tripShuttle seat price usedShuttle is cheaper for…
JFK$10919 mi · 55 minup to $25 (launch, Mar 2025)up to 4 riders
Newark$10417 mi · 40 minabout $20 (a rider paid $19.99, Jan 2026)up to 5 riders
LaGuardia$498 mi · 23 min$18 (launch, Oct 2024)up to 2 riders
Boston Logan$336 mi · 20 min$15 (possible price after intro deals, per WBUR, Apr 2026)up to 2 riders

Car prices: Uber's own airport pages (JFK, Newark, LaGuardia, Boston Logan), which show an estimated average price, distance and travel time for trips from New York City or Boston. Checked September 13, 2026. Seat prices: sources in the price table above. Tips, surge and group vehicle upgrades not included.

Shuttle seats vs one average Uber, by group size

Green bar: buying shuttle seats costs less than Uber's average price for the same airport trip. Grey bar: one car is cheaper. The blue line marks Uber's average price.

JFK

Blue line: Uber average $109 · seat $25

1 rider$25
2 riders$50
3 riders$75
4 riders$100
5 riders$125

Newark

Blue line: Uber average $104 · seat $20

1 rider$20
2 riders$40
3 riders$60
4 riders$80
5 riders$100

LaGuardia

Blue line: Uber average $49 · seat $18

1 rider$18
2 riders$36
3 riders$54
4 riders$72
5 riders$90

Boston Logan

Blue line: Uber average $33 · seat $15

1 rider$15
2 riders$30
3 riders$45
4 riders$60
5 riders$75

The pattern is simple. On long airport runs (JFK and Newark), the shuttle stays cheaper even for a group of four. On short runs (LaGuardia and Boston Logan), a shared car wins once three people split it. Boston is the closest call: at its $10 intro price, three riders ($30) would also beat the $33 average.

Three things can change the answer for your trip:

  • Group size limits. Uber's average is not tied to one ride type. A regular UberX seats up to four riders, so a group of five usually needs UberXL, which costs more. That makes the shuttle look even better for five people.
  • Surge. Uber's averages mix quiet and busy times. During a rush, the car price can climb a lot, while you see the shuttle price before you book.
  • Where you are going. The shuttle only stops at its set stops. If your hotel is far from one, add the cost and time of getting there.

Luggage, Kids, Pets and Wheelchair Access

  • Luggage: each ticket includes one bag (carry-on or checked) up to 45 lb, plus one personal item that fits on your lap or under the seat. For more bags, you must book another seat.
  • Kids: everyone aged 2 or older needs a ticket and a seat belt. One child under 2 per guardian rides free.
  • Pets: service animals are allowed. Pets are not.
  • Wheelchair access: call the fleet partner 24 hours ahead to arrange an accessible van (718-221-5341 for JFK and LaGuardia; 888-999-3988 for Newark and Boston). Uber says the fare is the same.

Traveling with a lot of bags? A shuttle seat per suitcase adds up fast. Our UberXL luggage guide shows when a bigger car makes more sense.

Cancellations, Missed Shuttles and Delayed Flights

Uber's airport shuttle rules depend on which way you are going.

Going to the airport:

  • Free to cancel more than 25 minutes before departure.
  • Free if the driver is more than 10 minutes late to the pickup spot.
  • $5 fee if you don't board within 2 minutes of the scheduled departure.
  • Full fare if you try to cancel after checking in with the QR code.

Leaving the airport:

  • No fee for missing the shuttle.
  • Full fare only if you try to cancel after checking in with the QR code.

The "leaving the airport" rule matters if your flight is late. You won't be charged for missing the shuttle, but Uber doesn't say it holds your seat, so plan on booking a later departure. It is often safer to book after you land, once you know how long the walk to the pickup will take. A Frommers reviewer flying into LaGuardia held off booking while still taxiing for exactly that reason (Frommers). The trade-off: at busy times, the next departure may already be full.

To change a booking, cancel it and book a new one. For regular Uber rides, our guide to Uber cancellation fees covers the different rules.

Is Uber Shuttle Worth It?

It's a good pick when:

  • You're traveling alone or as a couple.
  • You're going to JFK or Newark, where Uber's average trip from the city is over $100.
  • Your hotel or home is a short walk from one of the stops.
  • You have one bag each and can live with a set schedule.
  • It's a busy time, when car prices are likely to jump.

Skip it when:

  • Three or more of you are going to LaGuardia or Boston Logan. Splitting one car is usually cheaper.
  • You have lots of luggage, a car seat to install, or a pet.
  • Your destination is far from every stop, or you need door-to-door service.
  • You're flying very early or landing late. NYC schedules are only shown in the app, and Boston's routes started at 2 p.m. at launch.
What we checked, and what we couldn't. Routes, stops, booking, luggage and cancellation rules come from Uber's own shuttle pages, checked September 13, 2026. Uber does not publish a fixed shuttle fare, so every seat price here is a dated launch price or a reported fare, and your in-app price may differ. Car prices are Uber's published airport averages, not RideWise estimates. RideWise is not affiliated with Uber or Lyft and earns nothing from shuttle bookings.
